Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy dates back thousands of years. It is the use of aromatic oils to relieve and revive. The oils are pure oils extracted from plants and fruits and are used in massage, applied in lotions, bathes, compresses or inhalations.
An aromatherapy massage is a truly relaxing therapy. Yet it is the proven therapeutic benefits of the essential oils that singles aromatherapy out from other forms of massage. They are believed to work at physiological, psychological and cellular levels in the body and to be relaxing or stimulating depending on the chemistry of the particular oil being used. Their actions range from reducing inflammation, fighting pain, to soothing irritation. Research has shown that when essential oils are applied to the skin or breathed in, they are absorbed into the bloodstream through the skin or lungs respectively, and metabolised in the body in a similar way to other medicinal substances.
Essential oils are powerful substances that can have great results if used correctly by an experienced, qualified aromatherapist.
